Kruger Private Concessions
The Private Concessions of the Kruger National park offer guests an intimate and exclusive safari without crowdedness of lots of people – while still within the borders of the enormous Kruger. Kruger Park is the largest National park in South Africa and second-largest in Africa, and boasts the greatest concentration and diversity of species around the world. It’s hardly astonishing that visitor’s worldwide flock to Kruger – sadly leaving many game-viewing prospects packed and time-constrained.
The private concessions within the Kruger National Park are areas of land where carefully selected operators have a licence to offer all the exclusivity and luxury of a safari lodge on a private reserve. Each concession is several thousand hectares, and the lodges who are situated here can leave the road network within their concession boundaries during game drives to get closer to the wildlife – this is something that is not allowed in the public areas of the National Park, even on the guided drives that leave from the National Parks Camps.
Visitors can spot the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) and an array of big game such as giraffe, hippo, and wildebeest. Sightings of other predators like crocodile, wild dog, and hyena are also common. The lodges and camps in the concessions have an excellent reputation for luxury, exceptional service, and highly-trained guides.
An additional advantage is guests can venture into the Kruger Park itself should they request (although hardly needed since the excellent game-viewing in the immediate area). However, those in the park, cannot venture into the private concessions.
